Lion dance

Lion dance is a spectacular show that wows the audience with the complexity of the costumes, the skill of the dancers and acrobatics. The dance accompanies all the main holidays of the country: Vietnamese New Year, mid-autumn festival and others. The artists are often invited to the opening of new institutions and the celebration of anniversaries. The musicians beat the drums, enhancing the festive atmosphere.

It takes a sophisticated suit operated by two people to portray the mythical lion. When the lion stands on its hind legs, the actor from the tail of the lion jumps on the shoulders of the head’s actor. And like this, a huge lion of two human heights, stands before the audience. It looks stunning!

Dragon dance

About 10-15 artists carry a long colorful dragon, simultaneously moving and making it perform stunning figures. Bright fairy tale dances on stage captures the attention of the audience.

Music and dancing

Ethnic drummers, artists performing traditional festival dances, a performer playing the Vietnamese folk single-string instrument called dan bau will show their mastery.

Traditional women’s costume

The folklore evening continues with the girls showing the evolution of the Vietnamese national costume ao dai through times. You’ll find out what dresses should be worn by unmarried girls and by adults. You’ll see different varieties of the wedding ao dai and more. About 10 Vietnamese models participate in the show.

Kung fu show

Kung fu show, performed by a master and his students will impress absolutely all guests of the Deja Vu restaurant. The master, for example, splits a coconut with his head and shows, together with his students, many other exciting skills that demonstrate the inner strength that they have gained by doing this ancient practice.

Exotic food

The guests will enjoy the culinary delicacies of the evening. Professional chefs of the restaurant will prepare eight traditional Vietnamese dishes, including exotic ones.

The guests will be offered crickets, scorpions, crocodile, ostrich, frog and snake meat. The highlight of the program is the famous cobra ritual, when guests are invited to drink snake blood mixed with rice vodka and eat the still beating heart of the snake. We’ve described this ritual in more detail in a separate article. Traditionally it is believed that the ritual conveys the strength, agility, security of the snake to the one who eats it.

The program is supported in English

The folklore evening is organized professionally. The host of the show talks about each part, its roots and its meaning. After each number, the visitors can take pictures with the participants.
