Love Fair in Vietnam
Sa Pa is a mountainous area in the North of Vietnam, famous for its beautiful rice terraces. The tourist are attracted not only by the stunning nature; they are interested in the life of local tribes that continue to maintain their traditions: they wear national cloth, live in simple traditional houses, engage in crafts and agriculture. In addition, the representatives of local tribes do not forget about their holidays and one of the most interesting events is the annual Love Fare, which attracts lonely guys and girls in search of potential partner.
Don’t associate the Fair with the concept of gold digging or casual encounters. The morals in Vietnam are more strict than, for example, in Vietnam, so this event is usually aimed at finding partners with the prospect of creating a family.
Where does Love Fair take place
This event takes place in the spring in the city of Huawei. The tradition to organize a Love Fair is quite old and has been around for almost a hundred years. There is a legend is connected with the fair. It is said that one day a boy and a girl from two warring tribes met at the annual fair and fell in love. They didn’t have an opportunity to be together, so every year they looked forward to the fair to meet again. Soon, the rest of the neighborhood picked up the tradition.
The atmosphere at the Love Fair is always festive
On the territory of the Fair you can always enjoy some delicious and beautifully served food. He participants gather to have treats and small talk, and try to know each other better looking for potential spouse. Of course, everyone tries to look their best and attract the representatives of the opposite sex.
Tourists can come to the event just to look at the elegant participants and learn how such an unusual fair is held.
Who participates in the Love Fair
The fair is visited mainly by representatives of local tribes: Hmong and Zao, as well as residents of other areas of Sa Pa. Hmong and Zao themselves deserve a lot of attention because of their unusual lifestyle and beautiful national costumes. Hmong engage in agriculture, make souvenirs and fabrics using unusual machines. Women of the Zao tribe wear original red hats and sell beautiful embroidered cloths. We have already written in detail about the representatives of local tribes living in the Sa Pa area here.
Usually the Fair is visited by those who are in search of their soul mate. But it happens that people who are already married come to the event. Sometimes they want to meet their old love at the fair or just flirt. People say, that the day of the Love Fair is the only day of the year when spouses should not show jealousy.
The fair is attended not only by young people, but also by representatives of the older generation. They come here hoping to find a companion for their golden years.
Of course, many people are interested to see how men and women, living in the beautiful mountainous terrain of Vietnam, find their soul mates.
We wonder, could this tradition be as popular in Europe, as it is in Asia?
